Our Mission
Face Shields are in short supply due to COVID-19. Our mission is to fill the dire need for face shields for medical workers at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Hospital, and Los Angeles County Department of Health Services facilities. As we meet and exceed that need, we will be supplying more hospitals in the greater Los Angeles area. This is a shield making resource we offer if you'd like to join our cause, or else follow our shield making instructions to supply face shields to others in need.

Our Origin
We are a group of students & professionals from ArtCenter College of Design who are working closely with Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, ArtCenter faculty, and Supplyframe to design Face Shields in the next 2 weeks where shortages are felt the most. We are currently making shield prototypes in 3 ways so as to provide different fabrication methods for makers with different equipment.
Rancho - ArtCenter Shields
We went through extensive testing to develop the best face shield designs. Please choose the shield that you are most suited to fabricate. If you'd like to contribute towards our cause, we ask that you please make one of these Rancho Approved* shields. Otherwise we hope any of our instructions will guide you with your own face shield needs.

3D Printed Shield

The method easiest for makers who already have a 3D printer. This design uses 3D printing to produce a headband to easily attach the clear polyethylene film. This is a Rancho Approved* design we need your help making.

Cast Shield
The method that scales the easiest to large quantities is the silicone mold method. Flexible tooling is used to create a flexible mold out of platinum silicone LV, then Silcast ii is poured to cast the hard plastic part. We are using a 3D print from Prusa Printers to mold the parts. This is a Rancho Approved* design we need your help making.
