JOIN THE PROJECT
Update (Oct 12, 2020): As commercially available face shields have been more readily available to DHS facilities, the production of Shield Makers face shields has been halted. Supplies are readied if there is a need to restart production and assembly. The Shield Makers project was a true team effort, with many partners and organizations involved. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and efforts to this project! Below info is for archival purposes.
Face Shields are in short supply! Help us with this student-led Initiative to fabricate face shields for hospital personnel. These parts are desperately needed, and hospitals do not have to use regulated parts for these, unlike N95 masks and other medical equipment, which have more stringent guidelines. There are many ways in which you can help the effort! The following teams could all use assistance.
Fabrication
If you have access to a 3D printer or lasercutter, or are willing to help assemble please fill out the form and we’ll be back in touch about how you can help with the fabrication process.
Assembly
If you don’t have equipment, but you’d be willing to help on this project (assembly, shipping, etc) send in the form as well! If you are willing to spend time assembling the face shields, we can provide you with an assembly kit with all the materials to put together the face shields.
Project Organization/Outreach
If you have some free time and access to a phone, you can always help us reach out to makers and hospitals and organize the distribution of face shields.
Media
Have graphic design experience? Writing experience? We'd love your help in the effort to disseminate information about COVID-19 with other makers around the country.
